Recently I was at the Linden House Diner in Linden, NJ. I was hungry so decided to stop.

    Atmosphere:
The Linden House Diner is definitely different from many diners. It's a small, local, diner. There are plenty of cute little coffee designs on the wall.  It almost reminds me more of a bistro versus diner.  It's apparently a locals place, and I enjoyed that vibe.

    Coffee: A
The waitress brought plenty of refills.  She brewed a fresh pot and made sure drinks were always refilled.

    Food:
The menu at the Linden House Diner is not as big as all diners but there are still plenty of options.

I had no idea what I wanted but ended up ordering a burger. I can't remember the exact name of the burger but it was topped with bacon and cheese. In all, it was a surprisingly good burger.  The sweet potato fries were one of the best I've had in a long time!  Nothing crazy to write home about but a good burger and I have no complaints.

    Service:
The waitress was very friendly and kept our beverages refilled.  She always made sure we had everything we needed.  One thing I also enjoyed is it was clear the staff was all friends.  They would chat about random things and all got along.  It's always nice to see that!  To top it off, our food came out quickly.

    Overall Thoughts/Would I come back?
I was pleasantly surprised with the Linden House Diner, and it was definitely a nice surprise.

Food was mediocre.   Absolutely nothing to brag about.  The sweet potato hash desperately needed seasoning.... not even salt and pepper helped.  Our waitress wasn't very attentive and we had to even ask for napkins.  They also charge  for third soda refill .. which is odd.

There are a million diners in the wilds of Jersey. Some are wonderful. Others are middle of the road. Linden House is a typical Jersey diner serving decent food yet my experience did not make me want to return immediately.

It's a busy, clean and nice looking place on Linden's main drag. I stopped in for breakfast the other day. The service left much to be desired. No refills on coffee. And my server only checked on me when it was time to pay the bill.

The food? Corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, well done home fries and an english muffin. The eggs and muffin were fine but the hash was probably out of a can-pureed consistency. Feh.

The highlight of the meal came as I was leaving. I stopped in the vestibule to photograph a vintage Linden photograph and the owner came out to chat. Nice touch and nice guy.

I see that the former Betty Lynn diner down the street is under new management. I'll try there next time I'm in town.

I love coming to this diner for some home-cooked and quick food! Everyone here is so nice and friendly, and the atmosphere has a family feel. Ever since they renovated the place, it's become more inviting.

All the breakfast food is pretty good here, especially breakfast sandwiches and french toast. All prices are reasonable and the serving sizes are neither too small nor too large. I love the breakfast  Greek wrap ($8)- it has scramble eggs, tomatoes, onion, and feta cheese, and comes with a side of home fries/ sweet potato hash/ tater tots. I usually get the home fries because I love how crispy yet soft they are!

I recommend this place! There is parking, the seating is comfortable, and the staff are all friendly!
